New patients

Welcome. Here's what to expect at your first visit, what to bring, and how insurance works with us.

  3. Exam and x-raysYour dentist examines your teeth, gums, bite and the soft tissues of your mouth, and takes x-rays if they're needed.
  4. CleaningYour cleaning may be done at the same visit or booked separately, depending on what your gums need.
  5. Your planWe explain what we found, what's urgent and what can wait, and give you a written estimate for any larger treatment.

What to bring

  • Your dental insurance card or plan details (and the plan member's details if you're covered under a spouse's or parent's plan)
  • A list of your medications, including vitamins and supplements
  • The name of your previous dentist, so we can request your x-rays
  • For children: a parent or guardian

Insurance and payment

We bill your insurance directly, so you usually only pay your portion at the visit.

For larger treatment, we give you a written estimate and can send a predetermination to your insurer first, so you know what's covered before you decide.

Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

New and CDCP patients are welcome. If you're covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan, bring your CDCP member information to your visit. We'll explain what the plan covers for your treatment before we begin.

Common questions

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. Call us or book online and we'll find a time that works for you.

Do you see children?

Yes, from their first tooth. Many families book back-to-back appointments.

What if I haven't been to a dentist in years?

You're welcome here. We start with an exam and x-rays and make a plan that deals with the most important things first. No lecture.

Can I be seen in French?

Yes. Our dentists include French speakers. Just let us know when you book.

Can you get my records from my last dentist?

Yes. With your permission, we'll request your x-rays and records from your previous dentist.

I'm anxious about dental visits. Can you help?

Tell us when you book. We explain each step before we begin, and you can ask us to pause at any time.

What if I have a dental emergency?

Call us at 613-836-5969 as early in the day as you can. See emergency dental care for what to do right now.
